And perl 5.8.1 and 5.8.2 had other nasty bugs with unicode. These caused all sorts of very obscure problems with RT, and the minimal recommended version for that is 5.8.3, with 5.8.4 preferred.
Is there really much reason to keep supporting perl 5.6.1? It is easy to update perl on pretty much any OS worth using.
