Understand the history here. This same reviewer compared spamassassin with several other commercial packages last fall. He used version 2.4x (I think) and didn't use any of the add ons like Razor or bayes, and did no other tweaking at all. Then he bagged it on how hard it is to install. He was taken to task in the letters to the editor and promised a followup with a more friendly approach; apparently this is it. To his credit, his analysis shows that a "maintained" sa installation - the commercial packages based on sa - are very efective. It also shows someone who has never ventured in to sa what to expect if no maintenance is ever done. Both valuable things to know for an admin considering sa without the courage to "just do it".
