To clear up this topic a bit, I think I have solved my issues so I will post back so everyone can see what I did...
1) I removed the bigevil and blacklist rule sets 2) I upgraded spamass-milter to 0.2 build 39 (latest out of the CVS tree) I am now seeing a load of about 2 or so and the system seems stable again. Basically, from the looks of things, the rule set would toss in a very high load which in turn would make the milter crap out which added a couple of hung processes (which I could not even kill with a kill -9) which in turn made the system go completely tits up. Having said that, by upgrading the milter and reducing the rule sets, all seems to be well again. Just figured I would let everyone know. - Ryan
