I'm running SA3.0.0-pre2 on Mandrake Linux 9.0 from within MIMEDefang 2.44. Occasionally, I am seeing e-mails get through without any DNSBL checking; if I immediately run spamassassin -t on them, it does see the RBLs and the rules fire. It seems odd that I would suddenly and temporarily be unable to get through to ANY of them unless I was having network outages, and I've seen no evidence that that's the case.

What could be causing this, and how can I troubleshoot? I remember a bug a few versions ago that could cause this but I also remember it being fixed...

Is there any way to get myself sent a test e-mail from a site on one of the BLs? This would be a useful tool to verify that I'm processing mail through the RBLs.

Is there a way to get SA to log the rules firing for each e-mail? I suppose it's possible that I am actually NEVER checking RBLs on production mail; right now I have SIEVE set to delete anything over 10, and I think the scores would end up higher than that..
