In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] says...
> I don't know why they call it a Joe-job, I'd be very surprised if it happened
> to "Joe" before it happened to somewhere.com, we were getting bogus email
> bounces back in 1995 (initially due to an amusing glitch in Unix mail

Rutman, Yuri Malicious spammer. Lost his account at joes.com and retaliated with
forged spam intended to look like it came from [EMAIL PROTECTED], in order to
cause trouble for joes.com. The backlash from people who did not know the
message was a forgery was sufficient to effectively destroy joes.com.
This is the origin of the term "Joe Job".

Looks like this was in 1997. There's no need to one-up anybody though.
This was just the first time somebody did this in order to specifically
DoS a domain.
