Hello!
(I am a first-time poster, please don't hurt me)

I have resusciated a Sparcstation 1+ here. The nvram was broken, one
internal fuses and the HDD. It lives again now with Sparclinux (RedHat
5.2: not my favourite distro but one of the few Sparcdistros).

The station has 40 MB RAM and 1GB HDD and a CGSIX SBUS Framebuffer. For
all that reasons I use it as an X Terminal.

My problem is that since I upgraded to Kernel 2.2.12 (RH installed 2.0.35)
the X Server crashes all the time. I cannot reproduce it 100% but playing
with netscape for more than 5 minutes lets the X Server (Xsun) segfault.

I tried Xsun 3.3.0 (or something, was installed) and 3.3.5. I tried with
and without backing store (-bs), no change.

I have these options:

1) Use the old kernel
  - is not an option because the Disc access is sloooow on this one,
slow enough to make it impossible to work with the machine.
2) Get a later 2.0 kernal (2.0.37 or .38 if available)
3) Update to RH 6.0

Does anyone have similar problems? Can anyone tell me more options.
Can someone suggest an option? I have to minimize all the compilation
on the machine and cannot wildly guess and check kernel parameters.
Compiling a 2.2 takes about 11 hours...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
