I am developing and maintaining a medium-sized program (an equational
theorem prover) on Linux/SPARC, Linux/Intel and
Solaris/(Ultra)SPARC. I am also admining some machines running all
three environments. In my experience the port from Linux/Intel to
Linux/Sparc is usually just a single make. Porting from Solaris to
Linux and (especially) vice versa is more difficult (but usually not
very difficult, either).
I have not yet any experience with the 64 bit userland (if it already
is usable), but I expect that code that runs on both Linux/Intel and
Solaris/UltraSPARC64 should be trivial to port in any case.
