There's an actual file limitation on the database file if you're using a UNIX Spectrum Server (this might even be in the Windows version but I'm not sure). If you go over 2GB (though you can force Archive Manager into using a 4GB file) then Archive Manager will shutdown and you won't have anymore event/stat captures until you manually purge the database and bring Archive Manager back up.
One would hope that in Spectrum 9.0 this silly limitation would be history itself, but I don't think that's the case. So if you have a relatively small number of events, longer retentions won't be a problem....
