All,

We recently installed Report Manager (we are running Spectrum 8.1). The
product is much less flexible than I anticipated. I would like to be able
to create on-demand reports from scratch based on arbitrary select queries
against a user-friendly representation of the event archive. For example,
an event report on global collections in which I can control the columns
that are displayed (not the Event Code and IP address, e.g., but maybe the
Pcause title and model name). Or an alarm report on interfaces in which I
can select more than on type of device at a time. Or an event report in
which I can perform a count on all alarms of three or four types that occur
within a specified period.

(I also do not seem to be able to properly filter on event types on this
type of report.)

More generally, perhaps there is some way to bypass the Report Manager and
work directly with Business Objects? Report Manager seems frustratingly
limited.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

DP
