Hello Alex,

It sounds like you need to create some custom roles;  This will allow you to
enable and/or disable the privileges that you want your users/groups to
have.  Additionally, you would need to assign security strings.  This will
restrict what certain users/groups can see.  I would create groups based on
the various departments.  Then create the custom roles that these groups
should have.  You might end up customizing a role per group, or just
creating one role if they have similar access requirements and assigning
that role to all of your groups.  You would then assign community strings to
the equipment that you want your particular groups to see and assign the
same community string to those groups.  The best way to categorize and group
your equipment would most likely be through global collections.  Hope this
