Omar,

I think the others responses to how to size etc are great, I would only
add that our model limit that we came up with based on experience, the
performance tool and other monitoring was around 200K and has worked
pretty well. We had one landscapes a few weeks ago that went up to 240k
models and began to crash every few days.

As far as Spectrum professional services being required, I have split
about 15 landscapes using the modeling gateway tool that you can
download from the support ftp site. The necessity of professional
services really depends on your experience with the tool. Using the
modeling gateway export tool allows you to export a subset of your
entire landscape and then import it in to the new landscape without
having to mess with any databases and while spectrum is up and running.
After going through the xml configuration files it is quite easy to
understand and perform a split. I get the new landscapes up and running
and integrated into the DSS, export the overloaded landscape models that
I want to move re-arranging containers as necessary and then import that
into the new spectroserver. If you need more details on the procedure
I can certainly help you. You don't get all model attributes by default
with an export so be sure and check to see what you need outside of the
defaults, we needed the "Notes" field that was not included in the
export by default.

Regards,

Sean

Hi gurus,

I have a question about Spectrum sizing. I'm using Spectrum 8.1 H14 on
two Windows 2003 servers (SS on one physical, OC and RM on one virtual).
There are about 240k models in SS. Polling rate is standard 5 minutes.

Is there a way to perform Spectrum sizing and see if server can handle
this much models or we should split it in two SSs? I've asked CA and
they told me I need CA Professional Services onsight to perform it. As
this is not an option, is there a way to do it anyway?

These are Windows server configs:
SS:
Win Server 2003 SE SP2
CPU Intel 2.33 GHz
RAM 4 GB
OC and RM:
Win Server 2003 SE SP1
CPU Intel 3.6 GHz
RAM 3 GB

I'm attaching Spectrum performance report in which everything seems
normal except notifications.

Any advice is appreciated!

Srda*an pozdrav / Kind regards,
