I didn't realize that importing the MIBs would also configure the traps
(entries in AlertMap, EventDisp, CsEvFormat, CsPCause). I thought I had to
manually configure the traps; and if so, then why import the MIBs for
Pingables.

Thanks for responding. It's been a while!

Re: [spectrum] Traps question

If the traps are mapped using the MIBs you will gain additional value by
seeing device specific alarms. If they are not you will only see generic
trap alarms.

Maybe a dumb question: What is the benefit of importing the MIBs if I'm

RE: [spectrum] Traps question

Hi,

If you want to receive traps into pingable model type, just add the
following line into $SPECROOT/SS/.vnmrc:
enable_traps_for_pingables=TRUE
You need to restart SS in order to update changes on spectrum.
If vendor’s traps are not recognised by spectrum, go to MIB-Tools, import
appropriate MIBs and map traps into events/alarms as desired. You will
find detail information inside spectrum’s pdfs.

Asunto: [spectrum] Traps question

Please excuse this beginner question, but I haven't done Spectrum stuff in
a couple years.

We're running version 8.1.0.15 and want to model new SGI servers as
Pingable. Is there an automated (or semi-automated) way to get the
vendor's traps into Spectrum, and useable for Pingable model types?

Regards,

Bill
