I spoke to CA regarding something similar. They gave me the following
attributes to look at , in Spectrum 8 but they are also in Spectrum 9 although
it may work differently.

Under attribute editor on the model you are looking to change you can choose
the Interface Name Primary Suffix and/or the Interface Name Secondary Suffix,
should be under Interface Configuration in Attribute Editor. In those you can
pick between, ifName, index, ifAlias, ifDescr and port description.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Sean

Hi,

I can't remember where I read that Spectrum uses not only IfIndex, but
also IfDescription and/or IfAlias in order to identify interfaces. I
think that depending on the interface type (ethernet, serial...),
Spectrum follows different strategy for identify interfaces. But this
is a hard code implementation and you can do nothing about that.

Sorry, I cannot give you more information about where I saw this many
years ago. Maybe in Aprisma/CA knowledge base.

Regards.
James.
