Hi John, list,

similar to James' approach, I would first model all (physical) resources, that
are needed to provide the cluster service.
In your case these would be the SAN entity and both servers. If possible
(depending on wether the virtual IP is visible on the physical nodes
interface/address table) I would also model the pingable device. If that's not
working (duplicate model with same ip) you might use an SPM test.
In a second step it's then useful to model the "business service" within
Spectrum Service Manager. Each layer which can force the whole system down,
needs to be a separate service model.

e.g.:

service resources policy
vip pingable or SPM test condition high sensitivity
server both physical servers condition redundancy
san san device condition high sensitivity
business all above services service health high sensitivity

Mit freundlichen Gruessen - Yours sincerely

Hi,

You can follow both approaches. It's up to you.

My preference is to model physical devices with physical connections
rather than a layer-3 or service view modeling.

Latter, I create services or pingables to monitor the service itself.
But this is my personal preference.

Regards.
James.
