The ³Distributed SpectroServer Admin² guide talks a little about this at the
end of the ³Fault Tolerance² chapter. It refers to the ³PausePolling²
attribute on the VNM. If this attribute becomes false on the secondary, it
indicates that the secondary has made itself active.

You could also try working with the output of HostUpdate or MapUpdate. I
haven¹t tested to see if they¹ll give any indication of which server is
acting as primary.

Finally, if you want to look at the CORBA API, you can query the MLS
directly. Contact me off-list if you¹d like to talk more about that option.
