Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO I am having the same issue, with unscheduled and off-hour restarts of the Windows Server.
I have gone into the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/WaitToKillServiceTimeout and changed the value to 60000 and have not had any database corruption from a Windows shutdown. I just need to get to the next step. Of course, if it becomes an issue with database corruption, I could always change everything back. But in our case, we have a client that needs to install windows updates in the servers and reboots the machines without telling anyone... We had the problem of being called at midnight, because of these reboots. For solving it, we changed he PID file for SpectroSERVER so the SS and ArchMgr restarts with the server... Also it was needed to delay the time to stop the services by the system when the reboot order is sent to give it time to the processD to stop everything properly, so it does not corrupt the DB. It worked fine most of the times... Still, the server crashes or SS crashes... nothing to do with that... As it is said.. You will need to delete the lock file and restart the process manually. Regards. 2012/7/11 Ellis, Christopher (cellis03) <[email protected]> Most of the time if it crashes though the .lock file will keep the server from starting up. You will have to manually remove the file. If the server stopped unexpectedly, the Spectrum database may now be corrupted. Youd want to fix that before restarting the SpectroServer. Also, if it dumps/crashes, you might experience the same issue (dump/crash) upon startup until it is addressed. CA has NOT set that up (to do it automatically) because of the cases above.
