Button Line up Front: I created a unique SNMPv3 Engine ID for a Cisco 4500 Switch and now it can not be discovered.
Specs: Spectrum 9.2.1.7, Server 2008 I just installed a fresh copy of Spectrum. As I was discovering some of the network, I started to run in to the dreaded "Duplicate SNMPv3 EngineID" alarm with an ID of 800000090300000000000000. I start to notice a pattern as I was exploring this further that the lowest index # of the Cisco 4500 Switches was going to a FA1 interface, which has a MAC of 00:00:00:00:00:00. So the creation of the EngineID is performing as advertised. I went ito one of the switches and issued the following command: snmp-server engineID 800000090300172203110A00 One of the other 4500s that was previously only a pingable now was discoverable after destroying the model and re-discovering it. (x.x.x.3) The issue is this, I am unable to discover the x.x.x.10 switch that was previously discoverable and is not sporting a new unique EngineID. (A) What do I do now? (B) Is there a way to reindex the interface in the Cisco 4500 switch so that an interface with a MAC address is the lowest index number. (prefered method, in case one of the networkers want to do some sut and pasting later) Thanks!!
