Hi, I was very pleased to discover a FreeBSD version of the Alcatel Spedtouch ADSL modem. It has saved me the cost of finding a cheap PC to use with Linux. Although I can make speedtouch-BSD-03062001 work, I cannot get a connection if I use speedtouch-21062001. For this, my set up is: FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE Tue Jun 5 ppp> show version PPP Version 2.3 - Apr 3 2001 /etc/ppp/ppp.conf contains (I have changed host and authentication information1): default: disable lqr deny lqr disable pred1 deny pred1 adsl: accept chap set device localhost:17071/udp set device !"/usr/local/bin/pppoa2 -vpi 0 -vci 38 -v 1" set authname [EMAIL PROTECTED] set authkey !"$%^^ set timeout 0 set dial "" set ifaddr 127.1.1.1/0 127.2.2.2/0 255.255.255.0 add default HISADDR add 0 0 127.2.2.2 I start my connection on boot with this line in /etc/rc.local: /usr/local/bin/modem_run -f /usr/local/src/adsl/alcatel/mgmt/mgmt.o -m So, ppp starts, modem_run initialises the modem, but I see the following messages in /tmp/pppoa2.log ################################################################################ Log started on Thu Jul 19 10:20:19 2001 < pid=60422 > Error reading from usb, see the reason below Reason: Operation timed out So it seems that ppp is trying to start pppoa2 and cannot. So what is wrong? Thanks, Adam. ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
