I have been struggling for some time with the installation of the Alcatel
Speedtouch ADSL Modem on Redhat 7.3. I have a KT3 Ultra2 motherboard, AMD
Athlon XP 2200+ processor with both USB and USB2 ports.
After following the instructions "SpeedTouchUSB-HOWTO using Benoit
Papillault's OpenSource drivers" I find that the modem lights do not light
up.
At the last stage of the installation, when I get the following error:
# modem_run -m -f /usr/src/alcaudsl.sys
I'm sorry, I didn't find your ADSL modem!
Tips: check that you are running this program as root and your device is
seen by your OS
Linux users : check /proc/bus/usb/devices
BSD users : check your ugen and usb entries in /dev
Furthermore when I plug in the modem I receive the console message:
hub.c: Cannot enable port 1 of hub 1, disabling port.
hub.c: Maybe the USB cable is bad?
It seems that my device is not seen by Linux. What can I do to fix this?
