Hi there! As I'm still experiencing CRC-errors (that do not really bother me, but still...) , i decided to take a little closer look. The first cause could be the quality of my in-house cabling; I rechecked this..........and proved to be okay. A second cause could be my on-board USB-port; as I've not got another at the moment, this remains unclear (yet). Third, it could be my Speedtouch or the software loaded into it; but it does its job well enough, it seems. Fourth, it could be, that my provider is not as stable as it declares to be; this is quite well probable since the liberation of the telecom-market in Holland..... Last, it could be the Linux-software, but of course I doubt that :-).
For comparison reasons I did some surfing under Windose to see whether there were really no errors there, me thinking it ran flawless. To my surprise the Win-drivers stumbled into errors too, but NOT the expected CRC-errors. The program dragdiag.exe (was on the Win-CD) mentioned some SDU-length errors!! I think I overlooked that previously, being fixed on CRC.... Now I donot know what SDU stands for (send-unit????), but I think, that Bill G. found a way to handle these errors in a quick way, maybe requesting a retransmission....... I don't know, as I got no tool to spy on the USB-traffic. Question to you guys (whoever fits the shoe) is, can this be of any help in solving the CRC-problem(s)?? I surely hope so, Bye for now, Ok O.
