I've since started using different firmware and the situation is rather better. I still get cells with wrong vpi/vci but I never get CRC errors (in fact I haven't a single one since upgrading to beta3), never had a USBDEVFS_BULK error and the connection stays up permanently. The firmware I am now using is KQD6P2.eni from the Thompson homepage http://download.ethomson.com/download/KQD6_R204.zip All other firmware files, despite working fine with beta1, cause the same problems for me as I described in my original mail.
