hi andrew, thank you for the hint, yes speedmgmt was my error! i removed it, logs look better now and i am able to connect to the internet.
but i still have troubles with my twisted pair cable connection between the linux machine and a win laptop. i use and need this to ensure internetconnection for both machines, the one with the ADSL-connection acting as DHCP server for the other one. if this cable is conneced, the other windows machine up (doing its DHCP job), i got the nice looking log below, but no internet connection. it waits on eth0 for it... has eth0 (via /etc/sysconfig/network/config/) any priority over the usb-adsl connection (and its /etc/resolv.conf) or is it the SuSEfirewall2 responsible for this behaviour? btw, no, speetmgmt didn't come with suse 9.2! looking around for a solution i tried that one and forgot it in the installed list... thx and greetings from tyrol/austria andré messages-log: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feb 9 16:56:47 linux modem_run[5805]: modem_run version 1.2 started by root uid 0 Feb 9 16:56:47 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 1 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 Feb 9 16:56:47 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 2 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 Feb 9 16:56:50 linux kernel: usb 1-2: bulk timeout on ep5in Feb 9 16:56:50 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110 Feb 9 16:56:54 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 0 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 Feb 9 16:56:54 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 1 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 Feb 9 16:56:54 linux kernel: usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 2 claimed while 'modem_run' sets config #1 Feb 9 16:57:19 linux kernel: SFW2-INext-DROP-DEFLT IN=eth0 OUT= MAC= SRC=192.168.0.12 DST=192.168.0.255 LEN=249 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=1 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=138 DPT=138 LEN=229 Feb 9 16:57:24 linux modem_run[5805]: ADSL synchronization has been obtained Feb 9 16:57:24 linux modem_run[5805]: ADSL line is up (800 kbit/s down | 128 kbit/s up) Feb 9 16:57:25 linux pppd[5894]: Plugin pppoatm.so loaded.
