I have tried a different firmware, that one which is provied on a CD 
with a windows SpeedTouch driver.
There are 2 files ZZZLP1.eni and ZZZLP2.eni. I used them, but it didn't 
help :| , so I'll have to
switch to 2.6 kernel.
