Hi Michael,

 It looks like your installation of SPLASH is fine, but the file is not in the 
default GADGET2 format. I am not sure what format the output files from Gadget3 
are by default, but I suspect they use the "block-labelled" format. If so you 
should set the environment variable "GSPLASH_FORMAT=2", i.e. type:

export GSPLASH_FORMAT=2
gsplash snap_*

See if that works. If not, please send me a copy of the file and I will try to 
figure out why it is not being read.
