If the rest of the system is a 13R system would the floor joist construction
also qualify as a 13R?

Subject: RE: Floor Joist question

Karen:

There is a lot of information needed in order to help you, but I can't
think of any 1'-9" deep floor joist construction what wouldn't require
sprinklers with the following exceptions:

1. qualifies for a NFPA 13R design
2. space is filled entirely with noncombustible insulation.

8.14.1.2.1 relates to noncombustible or limited combustible
construction, which typically does not include wood floor joists.
