The hundreds I've thrown away converting old Suprotexes to something
other, like wet systems, for the Navy were as Ed described. If Dead
Bob really wants to he could re-calibrate motorcycle shop manometers,
the ones used for synching multiple slide type carburetors. Speaking
of which I once owned a Ferrari 250 Berlinetta with six twin throat
Webers (for the car and/or math impaired that equals twelve slides
that need to operate in synchronization). Bottom line was tune carbs
on Saturday. Drive Ferrari on Sunday. Go to work Monday through Friday
in the Honda (or Toyota or VW or...).

Although late, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to elaborate on the HAD's.
Some of them were combination rate of rise and fixed temperature. Air in the
tubing was under a bit of pressure. Rate of rise from the increase caused by
air expansion, and fixed temp because of a little hollow screw-like thingie,
with the hollow filled with a fusible alloy. The one I have was made by
Automatic.

the pilot lines operate from a drop in pressure. There are old
pneumatic HADs that operate off a rise in air pressure. If believe
these HAD's tied directly into the deluge system buts it's been about
12 yrs since I messed with them. The same plant had electric HAD's
operating on 220vdc and fire pumps at 4,400 vac. Manufactured by
Tool man Tim
