Does anyone have any experience in sprinkler criteria for a bulk paper recycling facility? There are two areas of the facility that concern me. The first is the bulk storage of baled paper for shipment. I am looking at this as either a Class III or IV commodity and I think 13 and FM's data sheets will make this relatively easy to address. My bigger concern is any "processing" area where loose papers may be dumped into big piles before they are formed into bales. I'm sure this would be a fast moving fire and I have not identified anything in 13 or any recognized standard that might address the density and area or operation that would be appropriate.
I appreciate any feedback I can receive on this. Ray Schmid, P.E. Koffel Associates, Inc. 410-750-2246 www.koffel.com <http://www.koffel.com/> This communication is confidential.
