Scott, No. RS are listed specifically for residential occupancies as defined by the standards. Here is one manufactures disclaimer to this effect, "The Series XYZ are to be used in wet pipe residential sprinkler systems for one- and two-family dwellings and mobile homes per NFPA 13D; wet pipe residential sprinkler systems for residential occupancies up to and including four stories in height per NFPA 13R; or, wet pipe sprinkler systems for the residential portions of any occupancy per NFPA 13. An attic is not considered to be residential protection. As well, most, not all, attic systems are dry and the RS is not listed for a dry application. Oh, and so that this was not an advertisement or an endorsement for any particular manufacture, I changed the names of the guilty party. Ok, George?

This applies to SSP & SSU. 2007 nfpa Table 8.6.2.2.1(a). Which brings up a question: besides the listed "attic sprinkler" and SSP´s and SSU´s... what OTHER sprinklers are approved for use in sloped attics? Would residential sprinklers listed for beamed ceilings with pitches up to 8 in 12 be approved for attics? scot deal excelsior fire engineering _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field) No virus found in this incoming message.
