Will someone explain to me why in NFPA13 in table 8.9.5.1.3 (Positioning of sprinklers to avoid obstructions – extended coverage) it’s noted that “Less than 8ft………..Not allowed”? To me that implies that even though the sprinkler is, for instance, 8” below the bottom of say a light fixture, the sprinkler has to be 8ft. away.
