We are always required to do a hydro at rough, and about 80% of the time at
final. Our biggest problem is pressure fluxuation. Pump it at 10Am on a
summer day and it may go up 10-15 Psi as the ambient rises. (The AHJ
occasionally thinks we "bumped the pump") Pump it up at 3Pm on a winter day,
and it will drop at least that much as it's dark out at 5pm.(And
occasionally the AHj will spend hours looking for none existent leaks.) It's
usually cheaper to just test in the AM, and let the temp. and pressure rise.

Subject: Rough-in inspections

Any AHJ's requiring 200 psi hydrostatic tests to be done during the rough-in
inspection? Not really a problem with ACT ceilings. Certainly ties things
up in vertical residential systems where you can't zone it.
