In the smaller pipe sizes that you reference extra strong (XS) pipe is
schedule 80. Schedule 40 is standard weight pipe.

Back to NFPA 22 again today. Section 13.1.15.2.2 states that "steel pipe
2"
to 5" shall be extra-strong weight".
I am assuming that this means at least schedule 40. Is my assumption
correct?
