I believe CPVC is considered a combustible penetration when running through a rated assembly and therefore would require a listed firestop assembly. Metal escutcheons provide no rating; the IBC permits only an escutcheon to cover the annular space of a sprinkler penetration when the pipe is noncombustible, i.e., steel, copper, conduit, etc.

The other is the extended coverage 8.0K semi-recessed sprinkler spraying into the stairwell (also fed by cpvc from the corridor). The question being asked by the fire marshall - What is the fire rating of the escutcheons? Bobby Gillett Sr. Project Manager Key Fire Protection, Inc.
