Jay,

This analysis will always be done by the mechanical/HVAC engineers.  They
determine the heating and cooling loads and use this data to size the air
conditioning and heating systems for the building, ductwork, etc.

If you need more detail for a project, I would recommend asking calling the
mechanical engineer of record.
