i.e., if your calc program doesn't give you the option for an end head
pressure and forces you to continue to think in area/density (and DOS?), use
a density derived from spacing and density to equal the minimum end head
pressure needed.
Let's say its K=25.2 end head pres of 25, and 100 sf spacing.
You know you need to come up with a discharge of 126 GPM from the sq rt of
25 x K factor = Q. So then divide 126 GPM by the 100 sf spacing and you need
to lie to it and tell it to provide a 1.26 density.
If it were 80 SF spacing, it's be 1.575. Make sure if its interactive (with
autoCAD 3?) then if you change spacing, verify the density and flow didn't
change automatically.

Subject: RE: ESFR Heads in Calc's

If you're applying that table then in your calcs you need to specify the
minimum end head pressure as 25 psi, you already know the K-factor the for
the heads. The design area is based on 16.2.3.4.

Subject: ESFR Heads in Calc's

Forum,
I don't have allot of experience dealing with ESFR heads and am doing some
calc's for a warehouse we are designing. The question I have is where do I
get the density for these heads to plug into the calc's. For this particular
job I am using Table 16.2.3.1 on page 150 (07 edition) Max. storage = 25
ft'., max. ceiling = 40 ft'. I'm using a Viking VK510 (k25.2) head. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
