I would hope they do, but I doubt it will bring the outrage it deserves.
Residential sprinklers aren't taken for granted (obviously) so its not the
same effect as if Detroit starting shipping cars without seat belts, and
someone died from smashing the windshield with their face. It'll just be
another residential fire death, for the homebuilders and fire fighters- just
business as usual, same as the others because we can't seem to find the
nationwide fix. I forget if it's a local or national problem this week- have
to chk NAHB site for an update.

A wrongful death suit could have impact, but don't hold your breath.

Ron,

Thanks for sharing this information; I only wish we could get everybody
on-board with this. It's too bad that our State Building Codes people felt
in their infinite wisdom that residential sprinklers were too costly,
obviously in their eyes and the home builders associations eyes a life is
associated with a square foot price? In their eyes the houses are built
much safer by installing code mandated smoke alarms and new wiring
yadayadayada... They seem to ignore the manmade causes (candles, cooking,
etc..) coupled with all the synthetic stuff we pack in our homes with lower
flashover temps than the traditional Class A fuels, all for what to save
1-3% of the building cost? I can keep rambling, but we all know the same
story. I'm sure when the first residential fire related death takes place
after the new codes take effect the lawyers are going to a hay day?

Subject: Residential Burn Demo

The link below will take you to a residential sprinkler demonstration
burn in a real building. The burn was arranged by the Washington Fire
Sprinkler Coalition, The Kitsap County Fire Marshal's Office, the
Bremerton Fire Department and the Bremerton Housing Authority. The
fire sprinklers were installed by Sprinx Fire, a Northwest AFSA
member. The film was produced by Bates Technical College video
production students and paid for by the members of the Pacific
Northwest Chapter of the AFSA and with a matching grant from AFSA.
Enjoy.
