How did you locate MDE? Are you suggesting them because of the need to test the sludge or because they provide services to test the drinking water? Is condensate water different than drinking water in attacking the dry system piping? I suppose it could be since this water is being extracted from the air and might be influenced by the compressor system.
A couple months ago I made some calls and wound up speaking to someone at Potter (also a source for testing services). There's also Huguenot Labs, an advertiser in the AFSA magazine. What I learned from Potter is there is no standardized test for MIC, and that laboratory results can differ because of this. My first reaction to one of these reports was that it was nothing but a sales approach to water treatment. However, as I understand more it seems we should be looking to water treatment as a mandatory long-term design method. The client I was serving also saw the sales method before seeing the technical solution embedded in it. In my experience, the water quality test available from the local water company does not provide the necessary information. Bill Brooks William N. Brooks, P.E. In dry pipe systems branch lines shall be pitched at least 1/2 in. per 10 ft (4 mm/m) and mains shall be pitched at least 1/4 in. per 10 ft (2 mm/m). I think the contractor was confused between preaction and dry systems. It used to be that a preaction system in a heated area did not have to be pitched. However, as long as I can remember, dry systems have been pitched. On 3/14/2010 1:57 PM, Jay Jay Blocker wrote: > I have a scenario I would like some input on.
