We've really got a lot better out there than a hand held pitot or a cone
diffuser Steve. Even just a listed pitotless nozzle (1"-1 1/8" or 1 3/4",
depending on what you want to flow) would be more accurate than any of them.
A little hosemonster and 5' length of hose would be key. As far as tapped
caps, Kochek, Ackron, Pollard, even wholesalers like Potter Roemer or Croker
have lots to choose from. Get one with a vent or make a tee to bleed off
the air. If it was me, I would put a case together (Pelican) with a 1-1/8"
and 1-3/4" pitotless nozzles, 2-3 60# grade 2 or better gauges for the
nozzles, a comp-60, comp-100 and comp-200 grade 2 or better static/residual
gauges, a couple of tapped caps and a couple of combo spanners and hydrant
wrenches. Even better, another case with a little hose monster and a 5'
fire hose.

GFE Manufacturing has one called an HK-25 I think. Akron Brass sells them.
Otherwise, I my preferred set was from Potter Roemer including a directional
diffuser. I believe the model number for it is 6188. The S/R cap is 6184.
It came in a nice case. I also ordered their standard pitot knife, # 6177
and a spanner wrench(not sure of that model).

Any suggestions on where I should go to get a good basic flow test kit at a
reasonable price including:

1) A diffuser with a fixed pitot port and pressure gauge for the flow
hydrant

2) A cap with a gauge for the static/residual hydrant

3) A spanner wrench

4) Preferably a basic case

I need something light and portable that I can take on a plane with me for
some testing at a variety of sites over the coming months, where the local
utilities don't have this equipment and we won't have any contractor help
available. Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
