you could simply leave a single FHV if that's suffieient for your flow; if
you start getting in to needing multiples, we'd stick a valved outlet on it
and when the test is performed, install a piece of 8" we have with 6- 2.5"
FHVs, run the test, take it home for the next time we need to flow a fire
pump installed "green" with a flowmeter/no header, or to measure the flow at
a preaction riser test valve when trip testing by connecting it to the test
tee above the valve. Its not like you use this thing very often- or as Reed
points out, like "never".

What if you don't have a fire pump and the system demand is more than what
can be flowed out of the main drain (BTW, how do you measure the flow out of
the main drain?) We typically spec a 2 1/2" single outlet (size and # of
outlets dependent on the system demand), flush-type test connection with
male threads piped from the riser with a normally closed control valve. Is
that what you are asking??

Hello Craig,

Fire pump test header for sizes over 2", Otherwise the main drain
