Once the sprinkler manufacturers get low-lead sprinklers on market, the only remaining components in question would be riser manifold, flow switch (those parts of it actually in contact with the water) and ... what else? Check valves? Shut-off valves are coming (or already) on market for the plumbing industry and pipe - be it CPVC or copper - is already approved.
There shouldn't be any compelling reason to put a BFP on a residential system, be it MP or stand-alone. It's a way for water companies to raise revenues, is what it is. SL -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gary Stites Sent: Wednesday, November 03, 2010 1:51 PM To: [email protected] Subject: 13D Backflow prevention The water companies in our area are concerned about backflow prevention on 13D systems. With California adopting the IRC all the AHJ's are scrambling to put their spin on it! Anyway, what are the backflow concerns on a CPVC system that is not intertwined with the plumbing system? There is talk of requiring RP devices etc. Is a check-valve not sufficient?
