If the total building areas didn't exceed the limitations of 8.2.1 (13'10 edition) you could apply section 8.2.4 assuming they are all connected. If not, 8.2.5.1 would not allow you to unless the AHJ had given approval to do so.
Huge issues if ownership is different between the buildings or if the alarms are not interconnected, i.e. #4 has a fire, #1-#2-#3 all show a flow condition. The FD would normally say no to this if the owner just doesn't want to pay more for some additional underground. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of IPA Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2011 9:55 AM To: sprinklerforum Subject: One City Tap for Four Buildings Hello, I've got a project where there is only one tap into the city water supply and this tap supplies fire sprinkler systems for four buildings. The only problem is there is not one underground main which branches off to each building underground. Instead the fire line goes into only one building (building #1) with it's own riser, feeds the fire sprinklers system for that building then goes down the opposite side of the building, underground, comes up into building #2, with it's own riser, feeds that fire sprinkler system then goes down underground and continues on to each building. Each building has it's own riser but if at anytime someone shuts down the riser at building #1 the entire complex goes down. I hope I made sense. >From my perusal of 13 and 24 I didn't see anything that forbids this but wanted to run it through the forum. It seems a little too wacky to me. _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://fireball.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field) _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://fireball.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
