I purchased HASS in January and my bank account is a bit lighter as a
result. The primary reason I purchased is work with DOE where HASS is
certified or so I've heard. I had THE but no one seems to be home anymore
at that address. HASS is surprisingly dated as far as user inputs are
concerned but maybe this is why DOE likes it (robust?). Editing cover sheet
information is not very user friendly. The calculations run OK and the
printout is by the book. An obvious drawback with HASS is the requirement
to hand enter all data which means it calculates perfectly but cannot
necessarily tell you the pipe length entry should be 100 instead of the 10
you entered unless you use the X and Y coordinates. I don't think there's
any way the software will be modified to accept CAD files. Very good
response from the developers when you have a question. I understand each
year you receive a new CD and reload the program - that's how updates are
handled. I am able to load the program on any of my computers so traveling
with the laptop means having HASS along for the ride.

I'd be interested in knowing about any HASS user groups if they are out
there.

Subject: Hydraulic Calculation Software

Looking for opinions/recommendations regarding calculation software. We are
an architectural/engineering firm and not engaged in the production of shop
drawing quality documents, so don't really need specific CAD
interoperabilty, the ability to generate calculations from a CAD drawing,
etc. I would entertain software with those features, but it is not a
priority.

We currently utilize THE, and I am less than happy with support of the
product. I have also used HASS previously. My only real issue with HASS is
the fact that I'm buying a license and not actually a piece of software.

Any and all opinions welcomed. Thanks in advance for the information!
