A supply calc (calculating from the point of service to the remote area)
determines the maximum density of water that the sprinklers can flow given that
supply. A demand calc (calculating from the remote area back to the source)
calculates for a specific density and then tells you what the safety factor is
of that supply. We occasionally use supply calcs for areas we may expect to be
modified to a higher occupancy in the future, or to consult with an owner to
give them an idea of what the maximum storage or occupancy arrangement for an
existing area might be. Generally the demand calculation from the remote area
working back to the supply is the most common calc though.

service to most remote area, compared to most remote area to point of service?
