Not our proudest moment, but we imploded a 25,000 gal GST when we ran a pump
test in Jan without climbing up to see the freezing rain had closed the vent.
Big boom, top was concave instead of convex, and a dent in the side- stayed
standing, held water, replaced it without argument, no one hurt. Now they'll
realize how close to a bigger catastrophe we actually were and missed the
bullet. Tank was 25' high +/-, dwarfed adjacent pumphouse. Obviously doen't
help if its block walls, false security.

Now we check.

As Russ Leavitt says when talking about having a fire in a building you inspect-
It isn't IF, it's WHEN this happens.

So batteries are to be checked for being topped off so they don't spray you
with acid, you dress like Charlie Brown if you have an electric controller door
open, and remember FHV can become a projectile. Now you have a small tsunami
added to things to watch out for.

Agreed there is more that we may never no. Suction tanks will fail if the vent
fails. I saw a fuel tank, 10,000 gal sucked in like a pop can.

Very unfortunate. I've never heard of a suction tank "bursting" (except if it
freezes - should not have been the case). There definitely is a "rest of the
story".
