Just curious - what prevents pitching in the basement? Could it be pitched to
several auxiliary drains?

Subject: Re: Dry system off antifreeze

This is an existing industrial site with several vacant buildings. Several of
these are heated only for the sprinkler system. One particular building is two
level with a main floor and basement. The pipe cannot be pitched in the
basement but can on the main. A suggestion was floated to do antifreeze in the
basement and dry above. George's point about refilling the antifreeze after the
dry system trips is a very good one. My other concern was chemical
compatibility between the antifreeze and the seals on the dry valve. My
personal take us if they leave the basement wet with maintenance heat and do
the dry above is the most cost effective.

The reason it was suggested was to decrease the amount of antifreeze solution
required.

Good points, all. Keep em coming.
