This is just my take on the flexibility of CPVC, as described in blaze
master lit. The CPVC is not so rigid that the differential motion of the
piping and the structure will cause it to fail or break as easily as a steel
pipe or copper system. (So a Non-Specific value judgment. How much? What
force EQ? 3.2?? 7.4?? At what point does that "resistance" no longer proved
enough flexibility to protect the system integrity.)

But you asking about Seismic separations. Seismic separations allow two or
more portions of large structures to act as independent structures and move
differentially to each other. While the flexibility of CPVC may provide
sufficient motion adaptability and move differentially to the structure, to
allow it to survive inside of a structure. What happens when it spans TWO
structures moving differentially to each other.

A seismic separation works like the air space between two sky scrapers. Will
the CPVC provide enough flexibility when those two structures move in
opposite directions? I think not, and that is why a seismic separation still
need to be addressed even in CPVC systems.

Subject: RE: Seismic Separation Assembly

I'll try to answer my own question in part. 13, 9.3.3.2 states, "shall
consist of flexible fittings or flexible piping". Under the Advantages
heading Blazemaster states " Flexibility in the piping for greater ease of
installation" and "Greater resistance to seismic activity than copper or
steel systems". Based on this it seems to me that the expansion loop would
suffice. Can anyone back this up or demonstrate why it's incorrect?

In regard to seismic separation assemblies, are they required for CPVC
piping? If they are, does the expansion loop that blazemaster requires
satisfy the requirement?
