Gentlemen:

It would seem to me when George sits down in a meeting with (original)
sprinkler company and AHJ, the Project Professional Engineer (if alive -
especially if still licensed) should also be called to attend. I believe George
referenced a 'seal' on the sprinkler plans - or, if the spec's were actually
prepared by the PE. This person bears legal responsibility - I wish that
person good luck if he/she turns out to be a structural engineer, electrical
engineer, civil engineer (with no demonstrable Fire Protection
training/education).

In our area, the AHJ places a great deal of faith that (at least) the
PE/FPE of record knows what he/she is doing/signing.

Regards to all-

Jerry
