13R 2007 reads:

6.7.1.4 System control or shutoff valves shall be of the slow closing
type unless they meet the requirements of 6.7.1.5.
6.7.1.5 System control or shutoff valves on backflow prevention
devices that are 2 in. (50 mm) or less in nominal size shall
not be required to comply with 6.7.1.4.

Have not seen anything like this in 13 though

But are they listed UL for fire protection use? Since the valves are not
"slow close" they may not be. Our state reviewing agency made us change to
the new backflows that use a slow close valve, such as a Milwaukee BB,
instead of the models with ball valves only.

AND, you can get a tamper switch kit for the ball valves if the system is
required to be supervised.

The smaller one are listed with the ball valves, use it as is or you lose
the listing.

I am just double checking myself here...

If you need an 1-1/4" rpz for an antifreeze loop - yes I know this is
probably the last one we will ever put in - do you have to get it with OS&Y
valves or can you sue the stack on the shelf model with the ball valves?

Thanks,
Greg
