That's why we change heads at a system break not within a system. If you flow
one line of K17's at 52 and two lines of K25's at 25 or 40 the K25's overflow.
We frequently use the 22.4K heads above 40 ft. They require 40 psi like the the
K25.2 but use less water.

I know of one reviewer in the area that would say "what if" a fire started at
the intersection of the two types of heads and make us put a remote area there.

Thanks for the info Ron.

Yes, we have come across it many times. Some buildings have ridge heights over
40' and eave heights under 40'. There is no good way, that we have found, to
mix k17's and k25's in the same system. The higher pressure required by the
k17's causes the K25's to over flow. We always change at system breaks to k17's
once the roof height is less than 40'.
I don't see the need to be concerned about going 15 ft beyond.

This one came across for bidding and the specs / design are from the
consultant's drawings. The overall building height requires the use of
K25 ESFR sprinklers. The consultant has specified that K25 ESFR sprinklers are
to be used only in the high bay of the building at pressure "A" and K17 ESFR
sprinklers at pressure "B" are to be used for the lower areas. The building is
open joists / girders type of construction. Can this even be done? If so, I
imagine that 3 calcs would be in order. A K25 calc, K17 calc, and the area
where they would overlap (ie 15ft beyond).

Anyone else come across something like this?

Thanks,
