In concrete tee construction placing the sprinkler def 1" below the bottom of
tee is one option. When you've got clearance problems you may have to pocket
the lines between the tees. Makes it more expensive but sometimes you have no
other option.

Subject: Sprinkler Design Of Parking Garage

The IBC Code says you have to have 7'0" clearance in a parking garage. We are
having elevation clearance problems with our sprinkler pipe. Does anyone know
of a exception to the code that allows you to be below 7'-0"? Concrete tee
construction. Bottom of the tee is 7'-3 ¼". Deflector has to maintain a 1"
mninimum from bottom of tee. Dry system installed. Any help would be
appreciated.
