What's covering the 1' under the beam? If you can cover that from the next bay
over within the bounds of the obstruction rules then you are fine. Once a beam
get so deep you can't so you are stuck with the 5 lines. If a relatively
shallow beam there is a chance.

Subject: I-Bean Distance (center to center vs. botton)

Hi.
I need to design a sprinkler system, and I want to know if the following will
be "ok"

The hazard category per <FM> is HC2, distance that I have between 2 I-beans is
48.56' (center to center) and the distance from the botton of the I-beams are
47.57'. In HC2 the maximum distance is 12'. This mean that if I use center to
center I need 5 branch (48.56/12=4.046)for sprinklers, but if I use the
distance in the botton of the I-bean, I need just 4.

Can I use 4 branches using the distances between the buttons of the I-Beam?

Regards
